Nursing Facility Residents return to Radio Days

Companion Radio is a Rochester, NY based company that offers programing geared toward seniors.  This program broadcasts nostalgic music from the 1920’s to the 1960’s and classic radio shows to Broadway Musicals.  Read about how much residents have been enjoying this service in an article from Pennsylvania’s cumberlink.com.

“We use the programming to supplement what we’re already doing,” said activities director Nancy Hahn, noting a collection of activities that range from playing board games and cooking groups to others that meet to discuss the news or make craft projects.

Hahn, the lead advocate for the service, which is paid for monthly through the facility’s activities budget, said it meets the needs of residents and it will further enhance their quality of life.

“It keeps them busy. It’s something to do,” she said, adding that the programming keeps residents engaged and helps build camaraderie, especially through radio-driven games and singalongs.
