Industry experts are calling for a change in the way the Federal “Five Star Rating” System rates staffing in healthcare facilities.  Nursing homes say that the counting of workers does not reveal a clear picture of the type of care residents receive.  This discussed in an article from The Washington Post.

CMS is talking to the industry, patient advocates and states about changes, including the way the system measures quality of care. For example, homes that specialize in managing pressure sores and pain have more patients with those problems, and that can skew the homes’ ratings, the industry maintains.
