Nursing Home Resident brings Joy to Toddlers by Reading Stories

Seventy-five year old Alan Fohl who suffers from debilitating arthritis has started a reading program at the nursing home that he resides.  The parents are so glad to bring their children to see Alan the last Friday of each month to listen to Al read stories such as “Circus of Colors”.  This inspiring story from The Tennessean.

A group of 13 children listened to Big Al read, “Circus of Colors,” during the April 24 reading session. Even when the story was over, and the children got a little restless, Fohl never stopped paying attention to the kids. Years of practice have made him a devoted reader and schooled listener.

“Kids are just so pure. No one has infected their minds. They just want attention and love,” Fohl said.

Attention and love is just what the kids got, and gave right back to Fohl as they all rushed to hug their new friend when the session was finished.
