Peanut Butter recall list grows, providers urged to check food supplies

Although the FDA has stated that the peanut butter that is sold on store shelves is safe, the bulk jars that are sold to nursing homes and other healthcare facilities are under investigation for salmonella.  This article from McKnight’s Long-Term Care News.

A plant in Blakely, GA, which is owned by Peanut Corp. of America, is the reported source of the outbreak. It has caused 470 illnesses and six deaths in 43 states and Canada. Last week’s recall of King Nut and Parnell’s Pride peanut butter (McKnight’s, 1/13) has expanded to include: Clif and Lund brand bars made with peanut butter; ZonePerfect Chocolate Peanut Butter bars; Larabar Peanut Butter Cookie snack bars and JamFrakas Peanut Butter Blisscrisp snack bars; Keebler cheese and peanut butter sandwich crackers; and Keebler and Famous Amos peanut butter cookies.
