Thanksgiving with Dad in Assisted Living
This is a story that everyone should read.Ā Sue Scheible with A Good Age tells us about her 95 year old father’s first ThanksgivingĀ at his new home inĀ an Assisted Living Facility.Ā
One year ago, I never would have believed this Thanksgiving would be spent with my father in an assisted living residence (where he lives, not me) and that after just four months it would feel so much like home.
But Thanksgiving 2008 is here, and I get to spend another holiday with him, which feels like a really lucky break, since he is nearly 96 and has had a number of health problems this past year. He’s still quite sharp, a pleasure to be with, appreciative of my company and the chance to talk about his life.
